Remodeling Tips in A Slow Economy Backyard Projects that improve living and home value Creating a custom mosaic tile feature …
Back in October we began the first phase of remodeling Mike and Shari's home. They built it back in the 1980s and though very solid, there were a few things they wanted to update to bring their home into the new century. They originally found Hardline Design & Construction from a post we had on the internet and then through our website. After a few initial meetings we were honored to have the opportunity to work with them. Mike and Shari had a number of rooms in their home remodeled in some way or another. The living room, 2 bedrooms, basement, family room, kitchen and dining room all had work done at one point during our job. All of the rooms received new moldings, doors and hardware (where needed), windows and paint. As one can imagine, that also means our crew was in many of these rooms on any given day. The homeowners were too as they lived in the home while it was under construction.

Hardline Design and Construction is selected to remodel the entire home for the Whitney Wells family. The Whitney-Wells family have lived in their home for eleven years. What they love about their home is the connection their community has to the outdoors and old farmland. On top of that, they live in Sherwood, Oregon which has been listed as one of the best places to raise a family by Money Magazine for the past few years. When I met with Tina to photograph the BEFORE photos of their entire house remodel I learned another thing...they really do their homework. Though they love their community there are elements of their home that they are not so fond of. Their home is the way it was when they bought it eleven years ago and much of the flooring shows signs of a lot of activity. This is where their homework skills kicked in. The homeowners knew what they wanted: a mom and pop designer/contractor company that was as local as possible. They wanted a company that has been in business for at least 20 years and they didn't want a ton of subcontractors...oh, and they wanted the contractor to known their subcontractors and have developed a relationship with them over time (as opposed to being handed a list of subcontractors to choose from). If you think about it, in this day and age that is one tall order. They searched the internet and found a few contractors that made their first cut. We at Hardline Design and Construction are honored to be part of that selected group and were invited to make a bid on the job. In the meantime, the homeowners contacted the Better Business Bureau and checked with the Construction Contractor

One of the best parts of my job is meeting the people who have had their home remodeled by Hardline Design and Construction. Design and renovation/remodeling effects people. It effects how people move around in their space and how they interact with that space. Even simple changes can have profound impacts on every day tasks. I had been in the Downey home before, when I went to photograph the "Before Work" photos. I had even seen the design plans Sarah drew up and mentally knew what to expect. I knew where the large sliding glass door would be moved, where walls would be removed and what changes would be made. Last week I went to the Downey home again to photograph the "After Construction" photos. I was greeted at the door by Bridget, a very charming and gracious woman. I stood in the doorway speaking with her for a moment when I stoped the conversation with a rather loud, "WOW!" Nothing, and I mean Nothing prepared me for what I was about to see. What I had remembered about the Downey kitchen was that it was a very small kitchen for two people who loved to cook. I also remembered the living room was walled off from the rest of the house - but not anymore!
There is something seductive about a gleaming kitchen with new floors, cabinets and fixtures. I look at magazines and yearn for the look only to see a price tag that makes my heart break (and that is not even mentioning what it would do to my budget). We understand that at Hardline Design and Construction and we know there is a way to work towards the bathroom of your dreams while working to stay within budget.
